Marriage Prediction — The KP Approach
Share
Marriage is one of the most frequently asked questions in astrology. KP astrology offers a structured, step-by-step method to determine two things: will marriage happen? and when will it happen? Unlike traditional Vedic methods that rely on multiple yogas and subjective weighting, KP reduces the analysis to a clear sequence of checks.
Step 1 — Check the 7th Cusp Sub-Lord
The 7th house governs marriage and partnerships. In KP, the sub-lord of the 7th cusp is the primary indicator. Look up this planet in your report's cusp table.
Now check: is this sub-lord a significator of houses 2, 7, and 11?
House 2 — family expansion (adding a spouse to the family)
House 7 — marriage and partnership itself
House 11 — fulfilment of desires and gains
If the 7th cusp sub-lord signifies all three (or at least 7 and 11), marriage is promised. If it signifies houses 1, 6, or 10 instead, marriage is denied or indefinitely delayed.

Step 2 — Identify Marriage Significators
Once you know marriage is promised, find all planets that signify houses 2, 7, and 11 in the significator table. These planets — at the Maha Dasha, Antar Dasha, or Pratyantara Dasha level — will trigger the event. Focus on Level 1 and Level 2 significators, as they are the strongest.
Step 3 — Find the Dasha Window
Cross-reference the marriage significators with your Vimshottari Dasha timeline. The marriage is most likely during a period where:
The Maha Dasha lord signifies 2, 7, or 11
The Antar Dasha lord also signifies 2, 7, or 11
Ideally, the Pratyantara lord does as well
When all three levels align, the event window narrows to weeks.
Step 4 — Verify With Ruling Planets
KP astrology has a unique verification technique called Ruling Planets. At the moment of analysis, note the Ascendant sign lord, star lord, and sub-lord, plus the Moon's sign lord, star lord, and sub-lord, and the day lord. If the marriage significators appear among the ruling planets, it confirms the prediction. This method was one of Prof. Krishnamurti's most innovative contributions.
Worked Example
Consider a chart where the 7th cusp sub-lord is Venus. Venus sits in the star of Jupiter, who occupies the 2nd house. Venus also owns the 7th house. Venus's sub-lord is Mercury, who is a significator of the 11th house. Venus thus connects houses 2, 7, and 11 — marriage is strongly promised.
Looking at the dasha timeline, Venus Maha Dasha runs from 2024 to 2044. Within that, Jupiter Antar Dasha runs from March 2026 to November 2028. Jupiter signifies houses 2 and 11. The marriage window is most likely during Venus-Jupiter at the Maha-Antar level, further narrowed by checking the Pratyantara periods.
