KP Astrology for Beginners — Your First 5 Steps

Getting Started with KP Astrology

Krishnamurti Paddhati can seem intimidating at first — sub-lords, significators, Placidus cusps, ruling planets. But like any system, it becomes manageable when you break it into steps. Here are the five steps every KP beginner should follow.

Step 1: Understand the KP Framework

Before touching a chart, learn the three pillars of KP:

Sub-Lord Theory: Every planet and cusp has a sign lord, nakshatra lord, and sub-lord. The sub-lord is the final decision-maker.

Significator Table: A systematic method to determine which planets influence which houses, built using four levels of significatorship.

Vimshottari Dasha: The timing mechanism that tells you when events will happen, broken into Mahadasha, Antardasha, and Pratyantar Dasha.

Step 2: Generate Your Own KP Chart

Theory without practice is forgettable. Generate your own KP birth chart on Astro Chart — it is free and produces a comprehensive report with all the sections you need. Having your personal chart in front of you makes every concept concrete.

Follow our step-by-step guide to generate your report.

Step 3: Read the Planetary Position Table

Open your report and look at the planetary position table. For each planet, note three things:

Which house it occupies (using Placidus cusps).

Its nakshatra lord — this planet colors how the occupying planet expresses itself.

Its sub-lord — this planet determines whether the expression is positive or negative.

Start with the Moon since it is considered the most important planet in KP for determining the native's mind, emotions, and life path.

Step 4: Study the Significator Table

Now look at the significator table in your report. Pick one house — say the 7th house (marriage and partnerships). List all planets that signify the 7th house. These are the planets that have the power to influence your relationship life. Notice which planets have the most hits — those are the dominant forces.

Step 5: Check Your Current Dasha Period

Finally, find your current Mahadasha and Antardasha in the dasha timeline. Look up these two planets in the significator table. The houses they signify are the areas of life that are most active for you right now.

For example, if your current Antardasha lord signifies houses 4 and 9, themes of home, education, and long-distance travel are prominent in this period.

What Comes Next

Once you are comfortable with these five steps, you can move into advanced topics:

Ruling planet verification for confirming predictions.

Predicting specific events like job changes or marriage.

Health analysis through the 6th house.

KP astrology rewards systematic study. Every concept builds on the previous one, and with tools like Astro chart handling the complex calculations, you can devote your energy entirely to learning interpretation. Welcome to KP — the precision system of astrology.
