VENUS IN THE 6TH HOUSE

There are vast differences of opinion among the ancient acharyas about this position of Venus. Some say that it causes one or the other small-term illness, domination of the opposite sex in the family and also in the outside world, quarrels and enmity owing to strain in relations with opposite sex. It is also attributed to run down vitality in men owing to excess physical relationship, arrival and interference of a third angle in the "husband and wife" relationship.

No doubt that Venus in the 6th house causes wasteful and sometimes beyond-meaning expenditure on items of comfort/ luxury/ fashion etc. On the other hand, some other ancient acharyas say that it grants learning and vast and varied experience to the individual especially in medical science or fine arts, generally helping the concern for the needy and the suffering or ill. It gives a strong physique, presentable personality, and expertise in solving matrimonial problems of others.

Our experience shows that both the schools of thought are correct, depending on which houses in the horoscope are owned by Venus, and which Rasi is in the 6th house. Also where the lord of the 6th house is placed and what relations exist between Venus and that lord of the 6th house. It also matters considerably what stars are casting full drishti on Venus from the 12th house. If Venus happens to own the 3rd, 8th or the 11th house and the 6th house is owned by Moon or Mars or Mars, or that Moon is situated in the 12th house, the unfavourable results stated above will descend on the individual.

On the other hand, if out of Venus-owned Rasis, (a) Taurus is in the 2nd house and Libra in the 7th house, or (b) Taurus in 4th house and Libra in 9th house, or (c) Taurus in 5th and Libra in 10th house or (d) Taurus in 11th house and Libra in 4th house, the favourable results of Venus mentioned above would be there for the individual.

Libra in 2nd house and Taurus in 9th house would give mixed results. However if one of the Venus-owned Rasi is in a favourable house and the other is a damaging house, the damaging position would prevail over the favourable one.

One important point with Venus in the 6th house is that the 6th house is in 12th position from the 7th house which rules marriage, married life and marriage partner (spouse). It sometimes gives an indifferent attitude to the spouse or to the individual, and the marriage life becomes a subject of artificial compromise between the husband and wife.

If Mars or Saturn or Rahu occupy the 2nd or 7th house they are inclined to break a marriage, Venus in the 6th house would give support to the break-off trend. However if the spouse of such an individual has Venus in the 8th or 12th or even 2nd house, the unfavourable impact of the individual having Venus in 6th house would get mitigated and married life might continue happily. Normally, if nothing else, an individual having Venus in 6th house with no countermanding position of Venus in the horoscope of the spouse would give at least bickerings between the husband and wife.

Another point worth notice is that generally Venus in 6th house brings home greater demands for money from the kids, the girls after the age of 14 and boys after the age of 16. Non-fulfilment of their demands result in arguments, not between the child and a parent, but rather between the parents. It is always better for the parents not to convert the arguments into a serious quarrel.
