SATURN IN GENERAL

It should be noted that Saturn is a hard planet. It doesn't fail to give results under influence of any planet, not even when it is combust in conjunction with the Sun, because Saturn is deemed to be the son of the Sun. Every father wishes that the son may prove better in every respect when compared with father. Even in Sanskrit there is a very famous saying:

“Parajayam ichchet Putraadapi Sishyaadapi”

(meaning –‘wish for a defeat by your son, or by your student, or disciple’). Only two other planets compare to Saturn in force (strength) and influence, viz., Mars and Rahu. Rahu is a shadow planet, and whenever it is in conjunction with Saturn, Rahu enhances the force (strength) and influence of Saturn, because Rahu is 100% on the pattern of Saturn in every matter, whatever it may be.

Saturn is deemed to be a messenger (a rather dignified term used in place of “a labourer”!) among the planets. Because of this classification, Saturn is lord of communications (of every mode and every type, every method), ruler of the labour class, guide and protector of the down-trodden, and of the sufferer-community in social framework. It is also the master of iron and steel, as well as gas (petrol), all kinds of edible and mechanical oils, bone-structure in the body including bone-frame of the skull. It is common knowledge that a body can survive and work without much flesh or muscle, but it cannot exist without blood and bones.

It is apparent that Mars is the only other solid planet to stand comparison to Saturn, and often both Mars and Saturn work in co-operation. For example, in every communication system, power (electricity), ruled by Mars, is basically needed. And similarly where the body is concerned, Mars rules the blood system and also the ‘fabric-cover’ of the blood and bones in the shape of skin. In turn, Saturn rules hair on the skin. Mars and Saturn are die-hard enemies but they function in co-operation for helping the animal and human life on the surface of the earth. It might seem odd, but that is the truth, astrologically. Mars is the lord of earth, while Saturn is the lord of mountains, rocks, stones and dust found on Earth. Thus, these two bitter enemies work in coordination with each other for the sake of others.

It is also noteworthy that Saturn is the slowest planet among all those planets that are astrologically recognised for consideration. Though Herschel, Neptune and Pluto move considerably slower than Saturn, but being very far away removed from earth, these three stars do not affect an individual’s affairs and life. Although Herschel and Neptune do affect major events in the sky and on the earth, like earthquake, tornado, landslides, large-scale fire (specially in jungles), heavy floods, and the like.

Saturn takes, on an average, two-and-a-half years in transit movement from one Rasi to the next, and completes a round of all the twelve Rasis in roughly 28 to 30 years. Comparatively, the Sun normally takes 1 month, the Moon 2.25 days, Mars 1.5 months (except when it goes retrograde, then it takes from 6 to 8 months). Similarly, Mercury one month, Jupiter 12 to 12.5 months (13 years to complete a round of the 12 Rasis), Venus 1 month, and even shadow planets Rahu and Ketu take 18 months each, to move from one Rasi to the next Rasi.

While giving predictions about Saturn, one more very important point should be borne in mind. It is about “Saturn Saadhe-saati” (more or less 7.5 years’ of adverse impact of Saturn’s transit over the 12th position from Janma Rasi (Moon’s position in Birth-chart), over the Janma Rasi itself and over the 2nd house. In major portions, good or bad results of this 7.5 years phase of Saturn’s transit depends on Saturn’s position in the Birth-chart (Bhava-Chalitam position) and Saturn’s position in the Navamsha-chart too (Trinshansha-chart in case of females).

God Almighty has been kind to the human beings that a Saturn Saadhe-saati repeats after a cycle of about 28 to 29 years; and normally an individual undergoes a maximum three (at the most 4 if anyone had Saadhe-saati in childhood) Saadhe-saatis in a life time.
