JUPITER IN GENERAL

Jupiter in the 1st House (i.e. the Lagna or Ascendant) takes charge of memory, wisdom, experience, capacity for accountability for money and actions linked thereto. Jupiter in the 1st house further gives maturity in thought and also in action, good understanding of common law (irrespective of whether one has studied law or not), wide knowledge of business management, shrewdness in thought and talk.

It favours the individual also with clarity in written and spoken word (provided Mercury too is favourably seated in the Birth-chart), as also in theory and practice of economics. If the individual wants to go into teaching law, economics, accounts, business management, in these subjects too, Jupiter grants expertise to the individual.

If the individual enters the field of politics, through election or nomination, there too she or he functions efficiently as a parliamentarian or legislator or member of county council or member of panchayat and zila parishad etc.

If the individual is interested in buying and selling of shares as speculation or as long-term holding, or functioning as a broker in stock market, or as a promoter for loan seekers and arranging loans from banks and financial institutions, there too she or he proves successful, without much scope for major loss.

Jupiter rules pure gold, bullion, ornaments made of gold, jewellery, precious stones and often gains good profits in purchasing and selling these items.

Because planet Jupiter is envisioned as a 'person of advanced age', the individual can rest assured of getting comfortable and convenient living, though in matters of old age; so is Saturn similarly helpful. At the same time the 5th, 12th, houses, and Mars play an important role relating to comfort or discomfort to progeny and youngsters in old age.

Jupiter is deemed to be the guru (teacher or preceptor), and its good effect gets marred by conjunction with grahas (planets) or Rahu, or even by direct drishti of any of them. Philosophy is presumed that Jupiter alone does not become a maraka or a killer planet like Mars), unless it is under influence of malefic or cruel planets.

However, disease-wise it can cause diabetes, asthma, breathing trouble, and liver ailment.

Jupiter normally takes 12 1⁄2 months in its movement from one Rasi to another; its share is 12 1⁄2 years in the Vimshottari Dasha of 16 years and out of a total of 120 years, it is marked for 16 years. By Rahu’s 1s and followed by Saturn’s, it owns Pisces and Pisces of which first Rasi is considered a soft one.

Jupiter in the Lagna or the 1st house is a common subject as some ancients consider it is favourable with respect to money, jewellery, success in business, while some others consider it as adversely affecting these very subjects.

The memory element in a student’s forgetfulness in accounts by memory and jotting them down after sometime (from a few hours to 9 ½ days) are other attributes of Jupiter. Experience shows that both impressions about Jupiter are correct and well-founded.
