HORARY ASTROLOGY

HORARY ASTROLOGY

The utility of any science, whether it is astrology or any other subject, lies in the fact that the society in general gets benefit of it. If any subject ceases to yield beneficial results to society it becomes obsolete in due course of time. Time is an important factor in astrology. In fact, astrology cannot be imagined without time. Therefore, in some sacred texts time is declared to be God. Horary astrology has greater utility than natal astrology in today's fast changing world.

Originally in India asking specific questions to an astrologer to get a pinpoint prediction was known as "Prashna Jyotisha" (literally meaning 'Question astrology'). In western astrological thoughts the word 'horary' has its roots in the word 'hour'. Quite astonishingly, in India the word "hora" also means hour that comprises a complete day and night- 'Aho-ratra'.

Horary astrology is an ancient branch of astrology by which an astrologer attempts to answer a question by constructing a horoscope for the exact time and place at which the question was asked. The answer might be a simple yes or no, but is generally more complex with insights into, for example, the motives of the questioner, the motives of others involved in the matter, and the options available to him. It has been practiced for centuries in India known as Prashna Shastra. It is a branch of Vedic astrology which is still widely used across the Indian subcontinent. The more advanced form is the Astamangalam Prashna and Deva Prashna methods of Kerala. The state of Kerala, in India, is famous even today for its traditional use of horary astrology.

The English astrologer William Lilly (1602-81) was the last major honorary astrologer, and probably the best-known honorary practitioner in history. His book Christian Astrology is in print and widely used in the modern-day practice of horary astrology. Today, horary astrology is still used much more in the United Kingdom, with medium popularity remaining in America, Germany, France and other Western European nations.

Therefore, there is a clear difference in approach and technique as far as the Western system of horary is concerned vis-a-vis the Indian system of horary or Prashna astrology. Even within the Indian system of horary astrology, there is a great divide between the traditional Hindu/Vedic system of horary as enunciated in Prashna Marga text and Prashna Tantra.

Horary astrology works on certain proven principles. The sifgnifications of planets and houses can be easily ascertained. There are many significations of planets and houses but the particular signification of a particular planet or house is only known with the help of horary astrology.

Pinpoint prediction devoid of double meaning could be possible only in horary astrology. In horary astrology the answer is given either in Yes or No. Whereas horary astrology gives the exact date and time for the fructification of any event, it is quite hard to possible in natal astrology.

Day-to-day events like arrival of a friend, light going or coming back, rumour false or true, reservation of berth in train possible or not, love affairs would materialize or not, etc., can be answered only by the horary astrology.

Horary astrology has greater utility when questions pertaining to winning or losing of three or four persons who are in election fray come up. It deals effectively with such questions. Horary astrology is also helpful in deciding bride and bridegroom among the list. It not only clearly and effectively decides but also gives precise judgment about the character and nature of bride and bridegroom.

So, simply speaking, horary astrology is a form of astrology where specific questions are answered based on the horoscope created at the time when the question is asked or it is solved by the astrologer. The chart will be casted on the date, time and place of the astrologer.

Horary astrology is a unique branch of astrological science. This branch of science is perfect, wonderful and most useful. It is a system of divination based upon a chart cast for a certain hour and minute pertaining to a thought, question or event.

In horary astrology, the astrologer takes the moment of judgment, makes a chart and offers the result. This chart will be very accurate and the result also will be very amazingly accurate. It is found very useful in all matters to get a precise answer.

Horary astrology is resorted to for those who have no horoscope or who doubt the correctness of their birth time. To erect a natal horoscope with 12 cusps and insert the planets at correct positions, the time of birth given by the native should be accurate.

To take the time of judgment, erect the chart for that time, taking into account the latitude of the place of judgment is considered to be very scientific.

In Krishnamurti Padhhati, the astrologer asks the querist to give a number spontaneously between 1 and 249. The number that the queriest gives depends upon his/her past action or karma as well as the future results he/she is to enjoy. The number given by him forms the basis for the prediction and horary chart is prepared for that purpose. The number, so given, indicates the sign, star and the sub. The sub commences at a particular position. This is taken as the Ascendant (Lagna) and according to the latitude of the locality (place) where the horoscope is judged, taking into account the Ayanamsa on the day of judgment and the cusps of other houses are calculated. Therefore, K P also is considered scientific

We must take only the time of judgment. We need not convert the time of judgment, which is noted in standard time to local time, and refer to sidereal time as required for the birth charts. As per KP, horary astrology depends on the number given by the consultant (querist) and every number refers to a particular sign, star and sub as Ascendant and other 11 relative cusps have to be calculated for the latitude of the place of judgment referring to Raphael's Tables of Houses

The selection of significators, ruling planets, arriving at common planets and the timing of events as explained in the preceding chapter equally apply to horary charts also. A number given by the consultant (querist) will answer only one question with allied matters, but do not cover other matters.

By applying it, one can predict the longevity, health, successor failure in one's enterprise, one's stay in foreign land or return, the time of marriage, the description of partner, re-union of divorce, birth, death and sex of child, results of the examination, recovery of lost articles, gain by lottery or races or speculation, success in litigation and anything and everything on the earth.

JUSTIFICATION OF USING HORARY ASTROLOGY

  1. The time of birth in most cases is not correct at all, so it becomes difficult to erect a correct Natal Chart.
  2. In one's Natal Chart it may be found that the person will have an agricultural farm but one cannot say which variety of crop he will cultivate. Horary will clearly classify.
  3. One may predict that the person will purchase a house in a particular period. It cannot be predicted from the natal Chart which house or in which street he will purchase, in this regard Horary Technique is very useful.
  4. A person decides half a dozen brides agreeable to his Natal Chart, but who is the particular bride Horary decides not the Natal Chart.
  5. About 4 or 5 persons compete in an election, it is a difficult task to find out the winner from respective natal Charts. In such cases, Horary Astrology helps.
  6. Moreover, any student of Astrology will not be able to carry out the research for decades and have a satisfactory solution for the various problems within his or her lifetime; so many centuries will be needed to carry out the research on Natal Charts to find out the truth. But in Horary Astrology one takes the moment of the judgement, makes a chart and offers the result. This Chart will be very correct and the result will be amazingly accurate.
