In astrology, Fortuna or Pars Fortuna is the most fortunate and sensitive Arabic Part in the Zodiac. Arabic Parts are sensitive points in a chart and are calculated using specific formulas whereby two planets or points are added together, and a third planet or point is subtracted from that result. This sensitive point which is equally distant from the Lagna as the Moon is from the Sun in longitude. This point in the Zodiac moves at a speed much faster than the Moon. The Pars Fortuna is calculated as follows:

      For day charts, Fortuna or Pars Fortuna = Longitude of Ascendant + Longitude of Moon – Longitude of    Sun

      For night charts, Fortuna or Pars Fortuna = Longitude of Ascendant + Longitude of Sun – Longitude of Moon

It should be noted that a chart is considered a day chart when the Sun is above the horizon (occupying any house from house 7 to 12), and a night chart when the Sun is below the horizon (occupying any of the first six houses). Generally, with modern astrology, the first formula applies to all charts (many astrologers don’t make the distinction between the day and night chart).

      It is quite correct that the Lagna, the meridian and Fortuna are the three moves very fast and they alone can give correct clue for different results within a short period to the same person or diametrically opposite results to the persons born within a short interval in the same latitude and longitude. Therefore, we should not ignore to include Fortuna while casting the chart and giving the predictions. In transitory results, Fortuna gives beneficial or adverse results according to the planet's transit over or aspect of your Fortuna point. When benefic planets transit over your Fortuna point, you can expect blessings and good fortune in abundance! Fortuna may suddenly be able to bring worldly success.
